WASHINGTON, Jan. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Attorney General Convenes Reentry Council -- On Wednesday, January 5, 2011, Laurie O. Robinson, OJP's Assistant Attorney General, joined Attorney General Eric Holder when he convened the inaugural meeting of the Reentry Council. The interagency Council will identify and advance effective public safety and prisoner reentry strategies and address short-term and long-term goals through enhanced communication, coordination and collaboration across federal agencies. Members of the Council include the Secretaries of the Departments of Education, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Interior, Labor, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and representatives from the White House.

February 15th is the Deadline for Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery Nominations -- The Bureau of Justice Assistance is accepting nominations until Feb. 15, 2011, for the Federal Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery and the State and Local Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery. BJA administers this program created by the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-298) to recognize acts of bravery performed between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2010, by federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement officers nominated by their agency's leadership.
