With the proliferation of video games, texting, fast food, and junk food, you might think that most teens would rather be caught dead than reading an actual book, but with teen depression, obesity, and drug and alcohol use growing around the world, many teens and adults are seeking help to these insidious teen problems.

The 17-year-old Alex Southmayd has come to the rescue. A top student/athlete at The Groton School, in Groton, Massachusetts, Southmayd has written a robust 190-page book for his fellow teens, "Brain Snacks for Teens on the Go! 50 Smart Ideas to Turbo-Charge Your Life."

These "Brain Snacks" are invaluable principles, strategies, and concepts to help teens through their everyday lives and tumultuous teenage years. As a teen himself, the author understands the pressures and challenges confronting teens today and covers all of them, from time management, acne, drugs, and obesity, to improving SAT scores (the author nearly has perfect SAT scores himself), being proactive, staying positive, and how to contribute to the community.

The "Snacks" span four major categories -- your brain, body, life, and world. A great deal of research went into the book and a dense bibliography is included if you want to look into any of the source material. The book has been endorsed by Dr. Mark Estes a leading Boston Cardiologist, Dr. A. Holly Johnson a leading Boston Orthopedic Surgeon, Sean Covey, author of the bestselling book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens," and the national organization, Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.).

Each Snack is no more than four pages so it can be "absorbed" quickly and they're fun to read. These Snacks can be read "on the go" whenever the reader has a spare few minutes.

The book is available in both paperback and E-book format from BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com, (the E-book can be downloaded to your Nook, Kindle, laptop, iPad, iPhone, iPod, or eReader).

This book will help teens become happier, healthier, and more successful in their lives and, ultimately, make the world a better place!

With the holidays coming, "Brain Snacks for Teens on the Go!" will make a great gift for any teens in your life.
