Integration Between Sanbolic Melio 2010 and EMC VPLEX Provides Active-Active Storage Solution for Virtual and Physical Windows Servers Across Data Centers

Sanbolic today announced that its Melio 2010 software suite now supports EMC® VPLEX™. EMC VPLEX is groundbreaking technology that enables dramatically new models of computing by eliminating boundaries of physical storage and allowing information resources to be transparently pooled and shared over distance for high levels of efficiency, control and choice.

The combination of Sanbolic Melio software with EMC VPLEX enables virtual and physical Windows servers to have simultaneous read and write access to a common block storage volume on hardware at separate geographic locations. This architecture provides new options for disaster recovery, moving workloads across locations, supporting organizations in remote offices, enterprise-wide virtual desktop solutions, and for deploying public or private cloud computing environments that span multiple data centers.

"EMC VPLEX provides the ability to present a common storage volume in two locations simultaneously," said Bill Stevenson, Executive Chairman of Sanbolic. "Melio 2010 utilizes a clustered file system to allow Windows servers at both VPLEX locations to simultaneously access the VPLEX volume for availability, collaboration, and workload migration, while providing additional features like storage quality of service management to ensure that SLAs are met."

Fred Walker, Director, Global Alliances, EMC said, "The combination of EMC VPLEX and Sanbolic Melio 2010 helps customers with active-active virtual or physical server failover or scale out cluster by enabling simultaneous information access within, between, and across data centers."
