Eaton's Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Help Power City of Raleigh Leadership in Clean Transportation
PITTSBURGH - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has announced that
it has donated to the City of Raleigh, N.C., three high-speed electric
vehicle charging stations that can recharge a vehicle in just four to
six hours. A public ceremony last week celebrated Raleigh's
sustainability initiatives, its emergence as a leader in clean
transportation and Eaton's commitment to developing the region's
electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The chargers are the first of
30 public electric vehicles (EV) charging stations the City of Raleigh
plans to install by September 2011 as part of its rollout of plug-in
electric vehicles.

"This important collaboration with the City of Raleigh will promote
sustainability by creating the infrastructure that will help drivers
become more confident that they can easily charge their electric
vehicles," said Eaton's Tim Old. "Eaton's proven technology is helping
to advance the aggressive early adoption of clean transportation in
Raleigh and throughout the Carolinas. The region is helping to pave the
way for broader adoption of electric vehicles throughout North America."
The charging stations, which are located in downtown Raleigh, are part
of Eaton's range of products and services that will provide critical
infrastructure for the EV corridors and across North America. The
donated units are Eaton's Pow-R-Station Level 2 charging
stations and have a 220-volt plug that allows a fast charge. It only
takes four to six hours to fully recharge an extremely low battery using
these charging stations.
