Affordable Living for the Aging Helps 104 Homeless Seniors Get a New Lease on Life

WHAT:

Affordable Living for the Aging (ALA) is hosting a grand opening event at its new Bonnie Brae Village Complex. The facility will provide housing and assistance to 104 needy senior citizens, offering an alternative to institutionalization. Despite the complex, turbulent financing history of the Bonnie Brae property near McArthur Park, ALA has stepped in to acquire and manage the project, with an eye towards assisting some of Los Angeles' neediest senior citizens.

About Bonnie Brae Village:

Located in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, the Bonnie Brae Village Apartment complex is the first supportive housing development to target the homeless senior population in Los Angeles County. Its integrated service model will include provisions for mental healthcare, preventative healthcare, and social services. It will offer 92 apartments for low-income seniors, including 45 apartments for homeless/formerly homeless seniors with disabilities or mental illnesses. Residents will receive on-site supportive services including healthcare, mental health, and other social services. Bonnie Brae will serve as a prototype for future projects in the region.
