Athena's Cup Donates $20,000 to Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Research Foundation
WOONSOCKET, R.I. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Athena's Home Novelties, one of the country's premier adult novelty
companies, recently presented The
Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Research Foundation with a
donation check in the amount of $20,000, a portion of the funds raised
from its nationwide breast cancer campaign, Athena's
Cup. The campaign, launched in 2009, seeks to collect 169,000
donated bras in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness and funding,
and plans to continue collecting bras until it breaks the current
bra-chain Guinness World Record.
Jennifer Jolicoeur, president of Athena's Home Novelties, presented the
check at a recent Better Business Workshop. "We are thrilled to make
this donation," said Jennifer Jolicoeur as she presented the check to
director of development, Gary Calvino and executive director Maria
Gemma. "The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Research Foundation is an amazing
organization that devotes their time and effort to helping women and
families affected by breast cancer."
"We're really pleased to be accepting these funds. The money is going to
go towards our programs of outreach as we expand to reach people
throughout the state," said Calvino as he accepted the check and thanked
Athena's for their ongoing efforts. "We expect to have a relationship
with Athena's for a long time. Let's keep going until we break that
record!"
To date, the Athena's
Cup campaign has collected more than 45,000 donated bras and
more than $40,000 since launching its nationwide breast cancer campaign.
In addition to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the Susan
G. Komen For The Cure, and other breast cancer charities will
benefit from the Athena's Cup campaign.
"Athena's Cup set out to make a difference and thanks to Goddesses,
Adoni, businesses and everyone who donated and collected bras, we know
we've done just that," said Jolicoeur. "While breast cancer awareness
month has officially come to an end, we plan to continue on in an effort
to reach new milestones and make additional donations to deserving
charities."
Other charities interested in becoming involved with Athena's Cup are
encouraged to send a request to marketing@athenashn.com.
