Halfpenny Technologies Appoints Chief Medical Information Officer
BLUE BELL, Pa. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Halfpenny Technologies, Inc., a leading clinical
data exchange solutions provider specializing in laboratory,
pathology and physician electronic medical record (EMR) system
interoperability, today announced that it has named Gai Elhanan, M.D.,
M.A., as the company's chief medical information officer (CMIO). In his
new role, Dr. Elhanan will be responsible for directing the development
of Halfpenny's clinical and analytical technology solutions.
A veteran physician with more than 12 years of experience in internal
medicine and infectious diseases, Dr. Elhanan also possesses 15 plus
years of experience in the research, design, development and
implementation of health information systems within both clinical and
administrative environments. In addition to his role at Halfpenny, he
will continue to hold a position as professor in computer science at the
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he researches auditing
methodologies and improvements for large-scale healthcare technologies.

Before joining Halfpenny, Dr. Elhanan served as chief of healthcare
informatics at 3M Health Information Systems (MN&C), where he oversaw
the development of core platform applications for the medical necessity
and compliance group, including a rules engine for advanced coding
validation and medical necessity determination. Prior to that, he was
director of medical informatics at Collaborative Medical Technology
Corporation, where he was responsible for the development of the data
model and concept for a terminology-driven, Web-based second opinion
medical consultation and collaboration platform.
