SAN DIEGO, Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, as part of the Project Working Mom program, Ashford University announced the names of ten more recipients of full-tuition academic scholarships. With these scholarships, Ashford is helping to fulfill the goal of a college education for ten deserving working parents.

The recipients of Ashford University's online college scholarships are Christina Geddes of Boerne, Texas; Darlene Brown of La Follette, Tenn.; Jeremy Surreira of Agawan, Mass.; Justin Carlisle of Taylors, S. C.; Kateija Moore of Forney, Texas; Lorraine Mellendorf-Oxley of Key West, Fla.; Regina Williams of Roosevelt, N. Y.; Sonya Black of Springfield, Ore.; Stacey Gregg of Spring Valley, Calif.; and Tiffany Duncan of Liberty, Mo.

Ashford University has supported Project Working Mom since 2007. In the past, Ashford awarded ten scholarships each year to deserving applicants. For 2010, the university tripled its commitment to Project Working Mom, and awarded 30 scholarships in three sets of 10. The first two rounds of applications concluded on March 1 and April 22, with scholarship recipients announced in May and July. This round of scholarship opportunities closed in September.

Project Working Mom was developed by eLearners.com, a web resource of EducationDynamics that connects prospective students with online educational opportunities. The program was created to remove barriers, such as finances and accessibility, that prevent working parents from pursuing their college aspirations. Ashford University is one of eight accredited institutions that donated more than 280 full-tuition scholarships to the project in 2010, worth nearly $5 million.
