Kaplan University Appoints David DeHaven, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Information Systems and Technology
DAVENPORT, Iowa - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Kaplan University, a leader in higher education innovation, today
announced the appointment of David DeHaven, Ph.D. as dean of the School
of Information Systems and Technology (IST).
DeHaven will be responsible for leading the growth and curriculum of the
IST programs, which provide students with opportunities to pursue online
degrees and professional certificates in programming language, Internet
and website development and numerous other computer and information
systems disciplines.
"Dr. DeHaven has spearheaded technology and business strategy for
several large corporations and brings to Kaplan University a wealth of
experience in technological innovation that will help enhance our
programs and prepare our students for positions in some of the most
competitive IST fields," said Wade Dyke, D.Phil., president of Kaplan
University.
DeHaven served as assistant dean for the University's IST school prior
to this appointment and joined the university as an adjunct faculty
member in 2007. Before joining Kaplan, DeHaven served as chief
technology officer at Northrop Grumman, and resides in Fincastle, Va. He
continues to serve as an executive coach and business strategist for
D3Coaching, an international company that utilizes a science-based
approach to fully engage an individual's talent and skills to maximize
business performance, engagement and productivity.
In one of his first initiatives as dean, DeHaven appointed several
senior executives from Dell, Delphi, Gartner, the CIO Executive Board
and other industry leading organizations, to the school's advisory
board. The board will advise the IST administration about curriculum
enhancements and employers' IT talent needs.

DeHaven holds a Ph.D. in Organization and Management from Capella
University, an MBA from Auburn University and a bachelor's degree in
Mathematics from George Mason University.
