ULM, GERMANY - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Ubidyne, the leader in Antenna Embedded Radio technology for the wireless industry, announced today that the company has named Telefónica O2 executive Michael Fränkle, 40, as its Chief Executive Officer.

Michael Fränkle joins Ubidyne from Telefónica O2 in Germany, where he has served as Vice President with responsibility for Access and Transport Technology Planning and Engineering for both the mobile and fixed networks. Over the last 12 years at Telefónica O2, Mr. Fränkle held various positions in technology management in radio access planning for GSM and UMTS networks as well as in core and service development. Previous to his most recent role, Michael Fränkle served as Chief Technology Officer of the fixed broadband business at Telefónica in Germany and was responsible for merging this with the mobile organization. He started his career at Siemens AG in the public communications unit (now Nokia Siemens Networks), where he was involved in international network planning projects. Mr. Fränkle has been a member of Ubidyne's Board of Directors since November of 2009.

"With the advent of 4G technologies and the dramatic ramp of wireless data traffic, operators need smarter networks that can significantly increase the efficiency of their limited spectrum," stated Michael Fränkle. "From firsthand experience, I know the challenges that mobile network operators and OEMs face when trying to deploy next generation wireless systems like LTE (Long Term Evolution). I am a strong believer that Ubidyne's unique solution provides a huge cost and performance advantage to help meet this challenge. It is a great honor to join Ubidyne's leadership team, and I look forward to building on the company's success."

"We have great confidence in Michael Fränkle's leadership, and we are excited to have him taking Ubidyne into its next stage of growth," commented Dr. Herbert May, Chairman of the Board for Ubidyne. "Michael will leverage Ubidyne's strong position as the global leader in Antenna Embedded Radio technology, and our unique technological advantages, to enhance our relationships with network operators and OEMs across the globe. Michael's strong track record of success in developing and launching new technologies, along with his vision, will set the stage for a bright future for Ubidyne. On behalf of the Board I am pleased to welcome Michael to Ubidyne."

Michael Fränkle will assume his duties as CEO of Ubidyne on December 1, 2010. He succeeds Ken Hawk, who has transitioned to Ubidyne's Advisory Board.
