AMACO(R) Clay Makes Great Craft Projects

Some of AMACO's most popular products are their wide variety of non-firing air dry clays, self hardening clays, and sculpting compounds. Each of these is fun to work with in their own unique way either at home or at school. No matter which product you decide to use, you will find that AMACO clay has hours of creativity to offer.

Claycrete® and Sculptamold® are AMACO's two different types of sculpting compounds. While they are both AP certified non-toxic and have much in common, they are quite different. Claycrete® is one of the easiest sculpting compounds to use as it becomes an instant paper maché type material. Both of these products mix with water to form a paste for modeling or applying over an armature. They both also set up quickly, in only 30 minutes, and dry white in color. Claycrete® is the more delicate of the two materials making it perfect to use for creating lightweight puppets, marionettes and stage props. Sculptamold® is a more durable sculpting compound that can be used to create masks, sculptures, large scale floats or stage backgrounds.

AMACO® Air Dry Clays, on the other hand, provide the crafter with an inexpensive all-purpose air dry clay to sculpt, hand model, or throw on a potter's wheel. These clays are available in White, Terra Cotta, and Gray, and are all AP certified non-toxic. When your piece has finished drying, it can be decorated with paint, sealed with shellac or bisque fired for added hardness.

AMACO's Moist Pottery Clay is another Air Dry Clay option that is also AP certified non toxic. This special clay is exceptionally smooth and pliable, and gives durable results for all forms of hand modeling. The Moist Pottery Clay is easily decorated with paint or sealer to provide the exact look you need for your perfect piece of art.

Another great clay in this long lineup is AMACO® Self Hardening Clays. These include Marblex™, Mexican Pottery Clay™, and Stonex™. All three are formulated for hand building, sculpture, and wheel throwing. All of your modeled pieces will dry hard and durable, but will not be waterproof.

Embrace your inner artist and start sculpting! For further information about the art and craft products available through AMACO®, visit www.amaco.com, or call (800) 374-1600.
