SportsMEDIA Technology Corporation Delivers New Ticker, Clock & Score Solutions for 2010 NBA Season
DURHAM, N.C. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - SportsMEDIA
Technology Corporation, the industry's leading provider of
award-winning graphics, statistics and video enhancement solutions for
sports broadcasts, today announced its new product and client lineup for
the 2010 NBA season. NBA TV will be using SportsMEDIA's new ticker
technology to enhance the broadcast of its NBA coverage. The new ticker
integrates an updated, dynamic graphics presentation and new
capabilities including automated live scoring, breaking news, live
in-game statistics and custom movie playouts for all ticker features and
teams for the NBA, D-League and WNBA, which are all powered by
SportsMEDIA's "smart" data engine. In contrast to traditional, passive
tickers, SportsMEDIA's new 24-7 ticker platform automatically updates
events dynamically based on real-time data intelligence. For example,
SportsMEDIA's software intelligently detects when a league game goes
final and interrupts the ticker with a "Final Score Update" and displays
the game score before returning to the ticker rip.
"SportsMEDIA new ticker capabilities offer clients, including NBA TV, a
unique way to broadcast the most relevant content in real-time," said
Don Tupper, vice president of business development for SportsMEDIA. "Our
software is sophisticated and can be pre-programmed with a wide variety
of alerts that determine the type of content that can interrupt the
ticker and be dynamically displayed, such as final scores in basketball
or football, game upsets in college football or a no hitter in baseball.
Given that SportsMEDIA can automate this entire process, the networks
can produce a timelier, informative and entertaining broadcast that does
not require any additional human intervention. This frees network
resources to focus elsewhere."
SportsMEDIA Gives Edgy Look and Feel to NBA Broadcasts
SportsMEDIA is well known in the industry for its advanced graphics
presentation and clock and score capabilities. For the current NBA
season, SportsMEDIA will work with TNT, Altitude (Denver Nuggets), KCAL
(Los Angeles Lakers), the Sacramento Kings TV Network, Madison Square
Garden Network (New York Knicks) and the YES Network (New Jersey Nets)
to rollout new graphics presentations, including the clock and score
information, for their game broadcasts. The new graphics enhancements
include more sophisticated animation packages, multiple team-specific
animated elements and highly integrated packages that work together to
build an energy and excitement among NBA fans. By customizing the
graphics presentations, SportsMEDIA helps each network develop a unique
personality and energy associated with their NBA broadcasts.
"SportsMEDIA is continually evolving its graphics features to help our
clients produce the freshest, most exciting broadcast for basketball
fans," said Patricia Hopkins, vice president of marketing for
SportsMEDIA. "Clients know that in working with SportsMEDIA, they have
access to the most advanced graphics presentation available.
SportsMEDIA's technology provides the tools to enable leading-edge looks
that broadcasters want now and that have the capacity to meet their
future creative needs. It all boils down to engaging the fans with
graphics that are easy to understand and highly entertaining as well."
SportsMEDIA Also Supports In-house Television Production
In addition to supporting the television broadcasts of NBA games,
SportsMEDIA also works with team and in-house stadium productions,
including the production teams for the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena
and the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena, for their in-arena television
broadcasts. SportsMEDIA helps these teams produce content for their
in-house production including data driven channels, clock and score
graphics and statistics for VIP guests watching from the hospitality
suites.
The 2010-11 NBA season, which will be the 65th season of the National
Basketball Association, begins on October 26, 2010.
