WANRedundancy.org, a leading source of information regarding Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies and applications for business continuity, announces today the release of a white paper on the subject of Virtualization and the critical issues that must be addressed before implementation. The white paper provides a technical overview of Virtualization, the challenges faced by users, as well as market scenarios, solutions offered, and case studies. It is titled "Avoiding the Negative Impact Virtualization can have on WAN Performance; Five Pitfalls to Avoid and Five Critical Steps to Take When Implementing Virtualization."

"Virtualization is growing in popularity as a tool to lower cost while increasing business productivity. However, users find that their initial savings are spent in later stages of implementation due to the unforeseen complexities of the technology, and the lack proper business continuity planning," said Jay Pillai Ph.D., Vice President of WANRedundancy.org.

The paper reviews both the technical and business aspects of virtualization as well as the need for business continuity and automatic and intelligent Wide Area Network fault tolerance. The end of the paper reviews the top five reasons to use router-clustering technology as a part of an overall virtualization solution.

In addition to controlling costs, the main challenges faced by companies implementing virtualization are:

  • Inadequate bandwidth availability
  • Unreliable Internet/Wide Area Network connectivity
  • Sluggish Internet/Wide Area Network performance
  • Inability to prioritize traffic based on applications, so that bandwidth is guaranteed for mission-critical traffic
  • Increased vulnerability to security leaks

The paper focuses on the challenges of implementing virtualization from a WAN perspective, and on the requirements of WAN acceleration, redundancy and data route control, to ensure the highest level of productivity and Return on Investment (ROI).

The paper is sponsored by FatPipe Networks™, the inventor and multiple patents holder of WAN optimization, redundancy and security products.
