Go Daddy Donates Video for Charity Motorcycle Ride

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- You know them for their Super Bowl commercials, but the creative folks from Go Daddy, the world's largest Web hosting provider and top domain name registrar, also just wrapped production on a new video promoting the Scottsdale Healthcare Rob Moy Memorial Poker Run.

Go Daddy and its CEO and Founder Bob Parsons donated their resources to support the Oct. 23 charity motorcycle ride supporting the Virginia G. Piper Cancer at Scottsdale Healthcare. They've also pledged to match event proceeds up to $10,000, and Go AZ Motorcycles is offering the opportunity for participants to win a $20,000 motorcycle.

Scottsdale Healthcare staff member and cancer survivor Shannon Alexander stars in the video, along with other hospital employees and former patients who are cancer survivors, members of the poker run event committee and Parsons himself.

We had really fun people, a fun story line, and of course anything with a motorcycle is fun," said Shannon, who works in Biomedical Engineering at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center. Poker run proceeds benefit the cancer center's Gift of Life Lodging Program, a partnership with Country Inns and Suites that offers courtesy lodging to eligible patients in treatment at the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare.

Presented by Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation, the poker run honors the late Rob Moy, an avid biker, Desert Storm veteran and 14-year Scottsdale Healthcare employee. Moy generated the idea of a poker run to benefit the Gift of Life Lodging Program and spearheaded the event before losing his life in a 2009 motorcycle accident.

Cancer patients often travel to Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare from throughout Arizona, the U.S. and beyond for treatment including clinical trials of new cancer drugs. The center is earning an international reputation for its innovations in cancer treatment.

"Medical advances have led to many breakthrough cancer treatments, but accessing these medical wonders sometimes causes hardships for patients and their families. That's why the Gift of Life Lodging Program was launched," explains Joanne Gain, vice president at Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation.

The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare opened in 2001 as the first major cancer center in greater Phoenix, offering comprehensive cancer research, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support services in a single location on the campus of Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center.

Last year's inaugural poker run attracted more than 200 riders and kudos for a well run event. "Our riders had a great time and we're excited about hosting a bigger and better event for 2010," adds Jess Kravitz, event chair.
