Candle Association safety rules, more than 15,000 candle fires are
reported annually causing substantial property damage, injury, and

Fire Protection Association (NFPA) report determined December to be
the peak time of year for home candle fires. According to the report, 13
percent of home candle fires began with decorations compared to 4
percent the rest of the year. The top five days for home candle fires
were Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day, Halloween, and Dec. 23.
