Catholic Charities USA Presents Centennial Medal to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Rev. Larry Snyder, president and CEO of Catholic Charities USA, presented the medal at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Annual Meeting, September 9, 2010, in New Orleans, LA. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization of men and women, provides person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder Blessed Frederic Ozanam and patron St. Vincent de Paul. The society was established in the United States in 1845.

Catholic Charities USA was founded in 1910 "to bring about a sense of solidarity" among those in charitable ministries. Since 1910, Catholic Charities USA has encouraged professional social work practice, provided opportunities for training and networking, and served as a national voice and expert on poverty issues. The Centennial is a time to reflect on past accomplishments and renew the commitment to serve those in need.
