Google: Instant Search

Google, Wednesday, introduced a new Internet search feature that displays results as soon as people type their request.

It's called Google Instant. It comes close to reading the users' mind.

Users will see search results popping up on their computer screens, and changing with each character typed. Google will try to predict what a person really wants by filling out anticipated search terms in gray letters. Below that, in a drop-down box, Google will offer suggested search terms.

Google expects to reduce time people spend on its search engine by 350 hours annually. Google's goal is to keep users happy, and inspire people to search more. Each search gives Google's ads a chance to generate revenue. Ads bring-in most of it's nearly $30 billion in annual revenue.

"I think it's a little bit of a new dawn in computing," Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin explained during a press conference.
