NJVC Promotes Melvin "Chip" Carr III to VP, Business Development
VIENNA, Va. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - NJVC,
one of the largest information technology solutions providers supporting
the U.S.
Department of Defense, announces the promotion of Melvin "Chip" Carr
III to vice president, business development. In this role, Carr is
responsible for providing leadership for the company's new business
pipeline pursuits from identification and capture to award.
"Chip Carr possesses more than 17 years in-depth experience serving the
geospatial community-including providing several months of direct
mission support in theater in Iraq-and is an excellent addition to the
NJVC senior staff team," said Jill
Bruning, NJVC chief operating officer. "Previously, as NJVC capture
manager, Chip successfully positioned NJVC on numerous new business
initiatives, and I am confident that in his new role, he will help
evolve the company's new business strategy and implementation to great
results."
Most recently, Carr was account manager for National
Geospatial-Intelligence Agency new business opportunities with Intergraph
Corporation in Reston, Va. Earlier, he was account manager with Bentley
Systems and geographic information systems manager for Maryland and
Washington, D.C., with Bell Atlantic (now Verizon). As an Army officer
stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, Carr was platoon leader and executive
officer, 555th Engineer Company and executive officer,
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, III Corps-the largest company in
the Army. Upon leaving active duty, he transferred to the Maryland
Army National Guard, and later with the Army Reserve was assigned to
NGA as an operations officer in the Reserve Management Office. He
deployed for NGA in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005, serving
as team leader and geospatial analyst to Special Operations Forces, and
received the United
States Geospatial-Intelligence Foundation Military Achievement Award
that year for his services.
Carr has a bachelor's degree in geography with concentrations in
cartography and urban planning from Frostburg State University,
Frostburg, Md., and was the department's honor graduate for 1993. He
will receive his master's in business administration from the Ross
School of Business at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich., in
2011.
