Under Secretary of State William J. Burns to travel to Russia and the Ukraine
William J. Burns, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, will visit Russia and Ukraine on September 7-10. The purpose of his visit to Russia will be to review key issues on our bilateral and international agenda, and discuss future projects under the Obama-Medvedev Bilateral Presidential Commission. He will meet with key government ministers as well as civil society and human rights leaders.
In Ukraine, Under Secretary Burns will follow up on Secretary Clinton's visit in July, meeting with governmental and non-governmental figures and discussing how we can enhance our bilateral strategic partnership.
