Indonesian Volcano Erupts

  Share With Friends

By

"After four-hundred years of silence a volcano in Indonesia has erupted for the third time in less than a week.

The latest tremor from Mount Sinabung is the strongest yet, it woke local residents from their sleep in the early hours of the morning.

More than 20,000 have been evacuated from the area around the volcano." - BBC

For human beings four-hundred years is an eternity, but for volcanoes they are but a burp in time.

For many generations the residents of Sumatra have ignored the sleeping giant, but it looks like Mount Sinabung may be trying to awaken from its long slumber.

Thousands of residents aren't taking any chances and they have abandoned their homes.

Mount Sinabung had been considered an inactive volcano, but what the hell do the experts know about volcanoes that have been here for eons.

On the east coast of the United States we are preoccupied with Hurricane Earl, but we aren't unmindful of the threat that the citizens of Sumatra face. May Mother Nature take it easy on all of us.
