Betsson AB: Betsson Loses a Court Case
STOCKHOLM - (BUSINESS WIRE) - In 2006, Betsson (STO:BETSB) sued the Swedish government for damages of
SEK 102 million on the basis that the State back in 1997 improperly
imposed a ban on slot machines which Betsson (former Cherryföretagen AB)
operated. The district court in Stockolm has announced that Betsson lost
the trial despite the fact that the ban was illegal.
"A clear case of court decay. Apparently the state can act outside the
law while the law applies for everyone else." says Pontus Lindwall CEO
of Betsson in a comment.
Betsson has not yet decided to appeal the ruling or not.
The ruling of the district court is available for download at www.betssonab.com.
