Rossi to Create 'Floating Reserve' to Keep Pools Open
TORONTO, ONTARIO - (Marketwire - Sept. 2, 2010) - Toronto mayoral candidate announced today that he would create a "floating reserve" to keep Toronto pools open during end of season heat waves such as the one being experienced by Toronto right now.
"Our pools should be open and full of screaming, happy kids enjoying the last rites of summer," said Rossi. "Instead, they were closed this week in a senseless and bureaucratic decision by City Hall. As your mayor, I will create a floating reserve to keep our pools open until our kids go back to school."
Rossi said finding the money won't be hard, given the savings he would realize as mayor in other areas. He pointed out that money over-budgeted for snow removal could be applied to keep pools open.
"Leaders give the vision and directions, and find good people to carry them out," he said. "I am confident City staff can give me some options so we let our kids stay in the pools and off the street and out of trouble."
