North Texans Are Lacing up for The 10th Annual Freedom Run

DAYL established and held the first Freedom Run on November 10, 2001 to pay tribute to the men and women of law enforcement and emergency services. To date, the Freedom Run has raised over $200,000 to support those heroes in their time of need through the Assist the Officer Foundation.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30PM featuring presentations honoring the heroes and victims of 9-11 as well as our local fallen first responders. The 5K Freedom Run and Bill Carollo one mile walk will begin at the Dallas City Hall Plaza at the Dallas Dodge Starting Line, travel around Dallas Union Station and Union Park, and then return to the plaza where participants are invited to attend the Freedom Festival featuring a live musical performance by Independent George.

Donna Rucker commented about her past experience at the Freedom Run, "There are a lot of races for good causes all over the DFW area, but running in the Freedom Run just feels special. Running to honor those who died on 9/11 and to honor those who continue to serve and protect us is the least I can do. Running alongside Dallas Police Academy Recruits carrying the American flag and knowing that the funds raised by the race go to the people who protect us, just makes it a run that feels more worthwhile."
