San Diego South Sun Beads Nominated as Best Craft Store

This weekend was party time at San Diego's South Sun Beads.

They have reason to celebrate, South Sun has been nominated as San Diego's BEST CRAFT STORE for 2010 in "The Best Of 10News.com A-List"

The South Sun kicked off its Bead Fair Thursday evening with a Wine & Cheese event to welcome guests and enthusiastic slogans such as "Shop all the new fancy gemstones we have in stock, and we'll be giving 50% OFF the entire store!"

In case you're curious about jewelry being termed gems and beads, the term applies to both. A Gem is a cut rock or mineral. They are often drilled to create beads. South Sun's new high-end gemstones include Faceted Ametrine, Peach Moonstone, Black Spinel, Tumbled Garnets and Pyrite Pears (faceted).

Upon entering the facility I was greeted by a Color Consultant who worked for Coco Chanel. The brand remains an icon of high society and of professional-looks. A French fashion designer, Chanel pioneered modernist philosophy, inspired menswear fashions, and exploited the upscale charm of expensive simplicity.

Such an important influence in 20th-century fashion - she was the only person in the field to be named Time Magazine's "100 Most Important People of the Century."

Today, we are familiar with the tools Chanel used to match colors to skin hue in order to attain the most attractive combination for a woman - according to her job and relaxation or vacation time.

I fell in love with a sea-foam colored bead necklace at 50% off with a matching bold carved flower pendant that was 60% off. The set came with 50 Free Beading classes to the purchaser. Alas, the lady in front of me snapped it up. Luckily there was still something there for everyone, including one of a kind art.
