Rule Fifty-One: Sometimes - you're wrong

Season seven of NCIS starts with "Truth or Consequences", where Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his A-Team goes to Israel to rescue Ziva (Cote de Pablo), who has been held captive. This episode is the introduction for new fans not familiar with NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service, not anything like CSI), a federal agency that investigates military and government crimes.

After four years of being a Mossad liason with NCIS, Ziva finally becomes an official "probie" agent as she studies to become a U.S. citizen while dealing with the growing sexual tension between her and Tony (Michael Weatherly), who falls in love with a missing reporter (Ashley Scott, Weatherly's former Dark Angel co-star), and struggles to remain objective when his father, Anthony DiNozzo, Sr. (Robert Wagner) comes to D.C.

Speaking of family, the team comes to the aid of Vance (Rocky Carroll) when his are targeted by a beautiful assassin (Kelly Hu) with ties to the Director's past. Leroy Jethro Gibbs finally deals with his troubled, tragic past when he reunites with his mother-in-law and meets the vengeful daughter of the slain drug dealer that killed Gibbs' wife Shannon and young daughter Kelly -- ending on a cliffhanger in true NCIS fashion.

Debuted in NCIS' "Legend" as a two-part backdoor pilot in 2009, NCIS: Los Angeles follows the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a team of agents led by G. Callan (Chris O'Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), as they take on undercover missions in the City of Angels. Even Director Vance and forensic specialist Abby (Pauley Perrette) stops by to help their successors, as OSP tackles everything from terrorism to serial killers -- and losing one of their own so soon.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, NCIS: Los Angeles became one of the biggest hits of the 2009-10 season, and part of the success is due to the onscreen bromance between O'Donnell's mysterious Callan and LL's enigmatic Hanna.

Tuesday nights is #1 for one reason only: NCIS, and see why with NCIS: The Seventh Season and the first season of NCIS: Los Angeles now available on DVD.

New seasons for both shows will begin Tuesday, September 21 on CBS.
