Free Download on WOWIO Highlights Family Life of Musicians Neil Young & Astrid Young
LOS ANGELES - (BUSINESS WIRE) - WOWIO, Inc., an established market leader with an online destination (www.wowio.com)
that provides access to rich digital media content and eBooks, is
pleased to announce that it is offering free PDF downloads of Being
Young: Scott, Neil and Me, by Astrid Young, for the month of
September. In this book, the author, half-sister of legendary musician
Neil Young, paints an intimate portrait of her brother while also
examining her own life and musical career. She provides insight into
their family dynamic, exploring the events that drove their family apart
and then ultimately brought them back together again.
Each month WOWIO chooses one title to be the "Book of the Month." This
program enables publishers and authors to get their titles into the
hands of thousands of readers who might not have come across their books
otherwise. With approximately 300,000 new titles published annually in
the US alone, obscurity is the biggest challenge authors and publishers
face. "Our goal at WOWIO is to help publishers stand out by selling
their titles on our site. From time to time we are also able to offer
them for free to our readers via our sponsorship program where
publishers get paid for every free download. What sets us apart is that
we work hard promoting them virally through various channels such as
social media sites and our own web channel, Pop Galaxy," Kristin
Ellison, Editorial Director of WOWIO explains.
"We thought Being Young would be an excellent fit for our Book of
the Month because it has such a wide appeal, not only to fans of Astrid,
Neil and Scott Young (Neil and Astrid's well-known journalist father),
but also to anyone curious about what it's like to be related to a music
legend. This title also bridges the generational gap because it speaks
to those who grew up listening to Neil Young's music, as well as the
following generations that are curious about the people, their families,
and the music that paved the way for much of what they are listening to
today," Ellison said.
"This really is a wonderful new program because it allows us to
highlight publishers like Insomniac Press, who have been a fantastic
partner to WOWIO," said Brian Altounian, CEO and President of WOWIO. "In
today's challenging market, initiatives like these can play an important
role in helping ensure wonderful companies like Insomniac Press are able
to continue to produce great and unique work for its readers."
"We were thrilled when WOWIO approached us about promoting one of our
titles for this program. With Being Young in its second edition,
it's a great way to give continuing exposure to a title that's a fairly
recent release yet not quite considered brand new. Additionally, it
provides an excellent way to generate increased interest in one of our
authors and her many talents," said Mike O'Connor, Publisher, Insomniac
Press.
WOWIO is continually looking to work with new publishers producing
titles across all categories. To learn more, please contact editorial
director Kristin Ellison at editorial@wowio.com.
About Insomniac Press
Founded in 1992, Insomniac Press has evolved from a small press that
publishes poetry chapbooks, to a medium-size independent press that
publishes eye-catching non-fiction titles as well as the great fiction

Insomniac's publishing program is its willingness and ability to venture
in new directions, both editorially, and in the areas of promotion,
marketing and publicity, all the while maintaining the highest standards
in all that it undertakes.
