Chancellor University to Sponsor Marion Sterling Elementary
CLEVELAND - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Chancellor University has agreed to sponsor Marion Sterling Elementary
School, located on Central Avenue in Cleveland, as part of its
newly-implemented community outreach program. Chancellor will be
providing financial resources as well as volunteer time in order to
bring the "Believe" program, an early-childhood enrichment program, to
Marion Sterling for the upcoming school year.
The mission statement of iDREAMability, creator of the "Believe"
program, is to improve the lives of children through non-cognitive
enrichment programs which will foster the socio-emotional skills which
children need to possess in order to succeed in school as well as in
life.
The purpose of the "Believe" program is to increase the students'
self-esteem and to inspire them to succeed. These positive themes will
be reinforced throughout the school year through a variety of methods,
including motivational assemblies.
"Believe" t-shirts will be provided to the students, faculty and staff
and worn on "Believe" days in order to create school unity. Weekly
inspirational PA announcements, encouraging music written specifically
for the program, and self-esteem building workbook activities will
round-out the program. "Believe" Days will be held regularly and it is
on these days that Chancellor employees will be on hand to participate
in an ongoing tutoring program in order to enhance the educational
experience of the students.
"We recognize the importance of instilling positive attitudes towards
learning at an early age, and that motivation and encouragement are
essential ingredients in a quality education," said Robert Daugherty,
President of Chancellor University. "We are looking forward to
contributing in a positive way to the efforts of the dynamic group of
individuals who are working very hard to obtain a "Promise Neighborhood"
grant as well as other endeavors to make the Central Avenue neighborhood
a model community for others to emulate."
Chancellor University was founded in Cleveland in 1849. It has served
students in Northeast Ohio since then and has served students on-line
since the late 1990s. The school currently enrolls students from 45 of
the 50 U.S. states and several foreign countries.
Since 1978, Chancellor University has been accredited by The Higher
Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and
Schools. IN FEBRUARY 2010, THE HIGHER LEARNING COMMISSION ISSUED A SHOW
CAUSE ORDER TO CHANCELLOR. ALL CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS SHOULD
VISIT THE CHANCELLOR WEBSITE TO REVIEW AND UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF
THIS SHOW CAUSE ORDER.
