NCKU Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang Initiates First Orange Technology Exhibition in Taiwan
TAINAN, Taiwan - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang of the Department of Electrical Engineering at
National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, initiates the
first Orange Technology Exhibition in Taiwan, hoping to promote the
market of global human care technology.
The press conference of Orange Technology Exhibition began at 9:30am,
September 1st, in the Creative Arts Gallery of Touch Center
at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tzu-Chiang Campus.
The six items displayed to the press media include a 100-inch
multi-touch display wall with 2D situational frame/3D three-dimensional
frame which can increase the interaction between families and friends,
LR Book for easy listening and reading, brain waves automatic page
turner, smart coffee maker, companion robot, and heart test brain waves
instrument, each emphasizing the essence of technology, health,
happiness and human caring.
Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang expressed, "Unlike the E-books on the market, LR
Book keeps the traditional reading method of paper books and has the
function of audio books, allowing one to choose to read or listen to the
content of the books freely. In contrast to the E-books on the market,
the design of the LR Book is more humane. In the future, by integrating
with the technology of cloud computing, this technology can develop into
more complex applications and be used in the design of human caring."
The 100-inch multi-display wall allows viewers to experience the wonders
of the world through instant image, video and audio sharing without
involving complex 3C products, and the 2D situational frame/3D
three-dimensional frame allows the users to enjoy a brand new visual
experience and takes them into an interactive virtual space by replacing
complex computer procedures with embedded systems.
In contrast to ordinary coffee machines which only allow key operation,
the smart coffee machine, a joint achievement of Prof. Chun-Lin Lu of
the Department of Computer and Communication at Kun Shan University and
Prof. Jeng-Shyang Pan of Harbin Institute of Technology, changes the
rigid interface of traditional coffee machines by asking consumers for
their choices. This makes coffee drinking more convenient for physically
disabled and elderly people.
The brain waves detection system, developed by Alchemy Technology with
integrated brain waves chip technology from NeuroSky, U.S., uses mindset
brain waves headsets to immediately reveal the wearer's degree of
concentration or relaxation in a colorful pie chart. This system has
been proven to improve children's concentration and impulse control, and
it has also been adopted by many academic units and early childhood
education units.
As the pioneer of Orange Technology, Prof. Jhing-Fa has raised matters
such as the health care and disease prevention of elders and children,
natural disaster prevention and disaster-relief of affected households,
care and concern for low-income families and the physically and mentally
disabled and the elevation of humanistic achievements.
Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang explained, "Orange Technology symbolizes issues of
humanity, such as green technology symbolizes environmental issues. The
orange color, which gives a warm, healthy, happy and caring feeling, is
a combination of red and yellow. Thus I call the health care industry
Orange Technology. When people see orange, they will associate it with
care. The development of Orange Technology will not only allow human
beings to live longer, but healthier and happier."
Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang also urges more scientists, economists,
psychologists, sociologists, engineers and experts from different fields
to strengthen the research and promotion of human technology, so that
technology can truly bring health and happiness to human beings.
The first Orange Technology Exhibition, initiated by National Cheng Kung
University with the joint efforts of NCKU Hospital and Tainan City
Government, will be held from September 3rd to September 5th
in Fan-Cheng Lecture Room in the Department of Electrical Engineering,
Tzu-Chiang Campus. The opening ceremony will be jointly hosted by Mayor
Tain-Tsair Hsu of Tainan City, NCKU President Michael Ming-Chiao Lai,
Superintendent Pin-Wen Lin of NCKU Hospital, Dean Chyi-Her Lin of NCKU
College of Medicine and Chairman Sei-Ching Lee of Inventec Corporation.
The exhibition will showcase more than 50 Orange Technology items from
industries and academia in Taiwan, and will be organized into five topic
forums, three lectures and more than ten scientific and technological
achievements display units.
By combining product displays with forums and lectures, the purpose of
the exhibition is to integrate domestic care products industries to
provide Orange Technology, Orange Industry, Orange Economy and Orange
Service to improve humans' well-being and health care and to promote the
market of global human care technology.
