The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2009 there were 44,790 new cases of Leukemia, along with 21,870 deaths. Lymphoma saw 74,490 new cases, along with 20,790 deaths.
Best-selling author T.L. Hines (TLHines.com) was diagnosed with Follicular Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma shortly before beginning work on his latest novel, The Falling Away. Hines was treated with radioimmunotherapy and is currently in remission from the condition, a life-threatening cancer of the lymphocyte blood cells - present in the lymph nodes, spleen, and bone marrow.
Hines is hitting the airwaves to discuss his experience with Lymphoma and raise awareness regarding National Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month:
Ask T.L. Hines:
- How he discovered he had Lymphoma - How he managed to continue working on The Falling Away - Why he's choosing to discuss his illness with his readers - What warning signs for Leukemia and Lymphoma should people be aware of - What inspiring stories readers have shared with him regarding their cancer battles
In THE FALLING AWAY (released in September by Thomas Nelson Publishing), T. L. Hines delves into issues ranging from teen homelessness to post-traumatic stress disorder in war veterans to the plight of modern day Native Americas, in order to peel back greater truths about redemption. Known for writing"Noir Bizarre" stories, Hines mixes mysteries with oddities in books such as "The Unseen", "Waking Lazarus", and "The Dead Whisper On".
