PR Expert Provides Tips and Hosts Call Featuring Fashion and Product Editors

  Share This Story

Many small businesses and entrepreneurs who are launching products or fashion designs need professional guidance, particularly when seeking coverage from the media. Lisa Elia, a PR expert with more than 20 years of experience in public relations and president and CEO of Lisa Elia Public Relations, provides these tips for fashion and product designers who want media exposure for their products and designs:

  • include video on your site demonstrating how to use your product or showing your newest designs;
  • cite new statistics, studies or trends to support the need for your new product or design, to add credibility to your press releases or pitches;
  • do your research and know the outlet you are pitching;
  • respect editors' privacy: don't send them friend requests on Facebook or jam their personal Twitter account with direct messages.

On September 9, Elia will provide more tips and insider advice when she hosts a free call with members of the media including:

  • Tracy Hepler, co-founder of YourDailyThread.com, a free daily email and online magazine for the eco-curious and social do-gooders of the world;
  • Aly Walansky, lifestyles expert and beauty editor of MyGloss.com, a columnist for SheKnows.com, founder of AlyWalansky.com and a freelancer for many other print and web publications;
  • PJ Gach, senior editor of beauty and style at Betty Confidential, author of Crazy for Cody: An Unauthorized Biography who has written for New York Post and Rolling Stone;
  • and a "surprise" editor.

Elia, who has secured coverage for clients in media such as Vogue, Woman's Wear Daily, E! Entertainment, California Apparel News, Marie Claire, Time, InStyle, O, The Oprah Magazine, Cosmopolitan and countless others, will be speaking with members of the media regarding what makes a product or design stand out, their pitching likes and dislikes, tips on how to gain coverage and details on what products and designs are of interest to them. The call will begin at 5 p.m. Pacific/8 p.m. Eastern and will last one hour.

"I brought these knowledgeable editors together to share their expertise, opinions and tips with fashion and product entrepreneurs," says Elia, whose firm provides private coaching and traditional PR services.
