The Law Society of Upper Canada regulates the lawyers and paralegals of Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society ensures that all lawyers and licensed paralegals in Ontario meet standards of learning, professional competence and professional conduct that are appropriate for the legal services provided.
As part of this mandate, the Law Society's Hearing and Appeal Panels recently heard the following matters. Hearing and Appeal Panels are responsible for determining the appropriate disposition of cases.
Nicolino Alessandro, of the City of Toronto, a paralegal applicant.
Decision: The Paralegal Applicant's application is refused.
Moorsaleen Kiyume Baksh (1995), of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Law Society's appeal of the Order of the Hearing Panel dated
April 26, 2010 is allowed. The Hearing Panel's decision is set aside. The
respondent's licence to practise law is suspended on an interlocutory basis,
effective seven days from the release of this Order and shall be in effect
until specified terms are met.
Harold George Elston (1988), of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's licence shall be suspended for four months, effective
immediately, and he shall comply with specified terms.
Joseph Peter Paul Groia (1981), of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's motion is dismissed.
Howard Steven Levenson, of the City of Toronto (Paralegal Applicant)
Decision: The application is allowed. A P1 licence shall be issued on
specified terms.
Lawrence Michael Lychowyd (1988), of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Respondent is reprimanded.
Vartan Hagop Samuel Manoukian, of the City of Toronto (Paralegal Applicant)
Decision: The Law Society shall issue a P1 licence and Mr. Manoukian shall
comply with specified terms.
Kevin Russell Marshall (1998), of the City of Toronto
Decision: Mr. Marshall shall be suspended for one week, starting 30 days
from his receipt of this Decision and Order.
Dunstan Dan Senjule (2002), of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's licence is revoked as of the date of this order.
Scott Stewart Thibaudeau, of the Town of Walkerton (Paralegal Applicant)
Decision: A P1 licence is granted with specified conditions.
Roger Paul Trudel (1978) d'Ottawa
Decision : La motion ayant trait a l'ordonnance interlocutoire suspendant le
permis de l'avocat rejetee. L'avocat doit avoir un cosignataire approuve par
le Barreau pour les transactions du compte en fiducie jusqu'a l'audience
relative a la conduite.
Diana Young (2002), of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer is reprimanded.
