DQ Crushers of Conway, Arkansas Takes Champions Cup at New Era National Youth Baseball Championships
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The DQ Crushers of Conway, AR held on to defeat the Banditos Black of
Houston, TX by a score of 7-6 to win the Championship Cup at the 3rd
Annual New Era National Youth Baseball Championship (NYBC) in the
10-and-Under Division played at Gameday Baseball's First Tennessee
Fields in Memphis.
The DQ Crushers earned a trip to Memphis by winning the National Amateur
Baseball Federation (NABF) Championship. The Banditos Black are the
Super Series Baseball of American (Super Series) Champs.
Connor McCullough of the DQ Crushers was named the series Most Valuable
Player. In the championship game he drove in three runs before taking
the mound at the top of the final inning with the tying run in scoring
and one out. McCullough retired the next two batters to earn the save.
The Sportsmanship Award, a team honor, went to the Bravos of Carolina,
Puerto Rico, the American Amateur Baseball Champions (AABC) in their age
group. This is a team award given in recognition of a team's
players, coaches, and fans respect for and courtesy to opposing players
and officials, as well as a demonstrated commitment to fair play and a
love of the game.
The NYBC features the season's top 10-and-under and 12-and-under teams
from eight leading youth baseball organizations. In addition to AABC,
NABF, and Super Series, participating organizations include: Amateur
Athletic Union, Babe Ruth Baseball, Dixie Youth Baseball, National PONY
Baseball, and United States Specialty Sports Association. The
organizations with teams competing in the NYBC have a combined total of
over 8 million participants.
The MYBA was organized by Eddie Einhorn, Vice Chairman of the Chicago
White Sox, who felt all youth baseball players should have an
opportunity to compete for a true national championship. He currently is
the group's Interim Executive Director.
