TORONTO & SAN FRANCISCO - (BUSINESS WIRE) - BlueCat Networks, the IPAM Intelligence company, today announced that its Proteus IP Address Management (IPAM) and Adonis DNS/DHCP virtual machines will manage IPAM, DNS and DHCP services in hands-on labs at VMworld 2010. One Proteus virtual machine and six Adonis 750 virtual machines will manage IPAM, DNS and DHCP for over 40,000 virtual machines at the event. BlueCat Networks will demonstrate its VMware Ready Proteus IPAM and Adonis DNS/DHCP virtual machines at Booth 1513 during VMworld 2010, being held August 30-September 2 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

BlueCat Networks is also announcing that its Proteus IPAM and Adonis DNS/DHCP virtual machines have achieved VMware Ready status. This designation indicates that both Proteus and Adonis have passed a detailed evaluation and testing process and are listed on the VMware Partner Product Catalog. Passing the extensive VMware-specified testing helps ensure that both Proteus and Adonis make the best use of VMware technology and are ready for deployment in customer environments.

"Demands for virtualization continue to grow, and a significant percentage of our customers are deploying VMware solutions to enable them to reap the major benefits of our market-leading IPAM and DNS/DHCP technology while simultaneously leveraging their virtualized environment to save power, reduce operating costs, decrease their hardware footprint and accelerate deployment," said Luc Roy, VP of Product Management and Marketing, BlueCat Networks. "BlueCat is proud that its IPAM and DNS/DHCP VMs have achieved VMware Ready status, and that they will manage the IPAM, DNS and DHCP services for the hands-on labs at VMworld 2010."

This announcement follows hard on the heels of BlueCat Networks' launch of Proteus Cloud Services, the first Managed DNS Service to provide complete control and central management of external DNS, while also enabling organizations to extend services to manage internal DNS and DHCP from the same single, highly-secure Web-based user interface. Proteus Cloud Services is also the first Managed DNS Service to enable organizations to host IPAM in the Cloud - making it simple for organizations with cloud-based deployments to utilize a single, centralized 100 percent-VMware Ready Proteus solution to run all management services.

Hosted by Afilias, a global provider of internet infrastructure services that supports 15 top-level domains (TLDs), including .INFO and .ORG, Proteus Cloud Services fully integrates Afilias' highly-reliable DNS infrastructure with BlueCat Networks' market-leading DNS, DHCP and centralized IPAM capabilities - such as DNSSEC support for signed TLDs (including .gov) and complete IPv6 support for AAAA records - to radically improve network reliability, scalability and security, greatly simplify network management, significantly reduce overall costs and eliminate the need for customers to work with more than one vendor.

BlueCat's VMware Ready IPAM and DNS/DHCP virtual machines streamline virtual environments by discovering and tracking virtual endpoints and their physical relationships to make it simple for server and networking teams to better manage and track their virtual infrastructure.

The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. With more than 1,300 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with best-of-breed technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.

BlueCat Networks' Proteus IPAM virtual machine and Adonis DNS/DHCP virtual machines can be found within the online VMware Partner Product Catalog at http://wwwa.vmware.com/partnercatalog/catalog/. Hardware products can be found within the online VMware Hardware Compatibility List at http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.

BlueCat Networks' Proteus IPAM solutions integrate with its Adonis DNS/DHCP solution as well as Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows DNS and DHCP to simplify network management by making it easy for administrators to fully integrate IP inventory tracking and allocation, along with DNS and DHCP management. Administrators can design networks with a simple conceptual view, then deploy and manage them across the organization. When managing DNS and DHCP, Proteus becomes "mission control," offering full command and customization of configurations from a central, secure Web-based interface to make it simple to eliminate all IPAM problems.
