  Share With Friends

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Florida Healthy Kids Corporation has selected UnitedHealthcare of Florida to be the state's partner in an expansion of its public program for children's health care. When the expansion begins in January 2011, UnitedHealthcare will be an option for children who are enrolled in Florida Healthy Kids (FHK) statewide.

This expansion enables UnitedHealthcare of Florida to bring quality health care services to children and their families statewide in all 67 Florida counties. UnitedHealthcare currently administers health care to about 33,000 Florida Healthy Kids members in 15 counties.

UnitedHealthcare is the first statewide option for families since the inception of FHK.

Healthy Kids is part of Florida's KidCare program and provides health coverage to children ages 5-18. The program is funded by the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), a partnership between Florida and the federal government. Services involve medical and behavioral health care for eligible Florida children, including primary, specialty, and acute care, and comprehensive pharmacy benefits with low co-pays.

"Our mission is to ensure access to quality health care services for Florida's children," said Rich Robleto, executive director of Florida Healthy Kids Corporation. "We look forward to working with UnitedHealthcare to provide access to its statewide health care network for our kids."

"With the challenging times in which we live, we are keenly aware of our critical responsibilities to provide access to quality care statewide for the children of Florida," said Rosa Cozad, president of UnitedHealthcare of Florida - Healthy Kids, the state and public programs business of UnitedHealth Group. "We are eager to bring our resources and experience to the critical mission of improving the health status of all FHK enrollees."
