South China Morning Post Goes Global as the First English Language Daily in Asia to Launch Native iPad App

Hong Kong's leading English language newspaper, South China Morning Post, has launched its native iPad app to coincide with the introduction of the iPad in the market, making it the only Hong Kong based English language paper and the first Asian English daily to have achieved this.

In the three weeks since launch, South China Morning Post iPad app has been downloaded by over 16,000 unique users, of which 59% are from Hong Kong and the remainder from other countries worldwide, including USA, Canada, China, Australia, UK, Germany and Japan. It became the second most popular app in the Hong Kong App Store on its debut day and has been consistently adding 3000+ unique downloads each week.

"The premiere of our iPad app represents our commitment to becoming the globally trusted authoritative source for English language information about Hong Kong and China", said Anne Wong, Director of Marketing for South China Morning Post.
