Brooklyn's Sadam Ali Trains & Throws Cyclones Ceremonial First Pitch
Brooklyn's Sadam Ali Trains & Throws Cyclones Ceremonial First Pitch Wednesday
A product of Brooklyn's tough Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, junior welterweight Sadam Ali will put his perfect 8-0 record on the line when he steps into the ring at Newark's Prudential Center for the third time on August 21st. In an eight-round welterweight bout, Ali (8-0, 4 KOs) will fight Costa Rica's, Lenin Arroyo (20-12-1, 4 KOs). This fight will be shown on the PPV telecast.
Sadam Ali looked great in his last fight, blowing out a walk-in styled, non-puncher in Julias Edmonds. This time he goes in with Arroyo, a 33-fight veteran who just a year ago, went the limit with hard-hitting, unbeaten, Mike Jones and then with James De La Rosa, also an unbeaten welterweight prospect.
Ali, the first Arab-American boxer ever to represent Team USA at the Olympics, is an avid sports fan. This Wednesday, he will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Staten Island game at MCU Park, 1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th St, 7pm. The Cyclones are the single A affiliate of the New York Mets.
Sadam Ali's fight is on the undercard of "The Big Challenge", featuring Tomasz Adamek's defense of his IBF International Heavyweight and NABO Heavyweight Championship belts against Michael Grant. This "Brick City Boxing Series" event will take place August 21st at Prudential Center, Newark, NJ, and is promoted by Main Events and Ziggy Promotions in association with X-Cel Worldwide.
Tickets can be purchased at Prudential Center Box Office, by calling TicketMaster at 800-745-3000 or visiting www.Prucenter.com.
The fights are being distributed in North America by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 9PM EST / 6PM PST on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, Avail-TVN and DISH Network in the United States and Viewer's Choice and Bell TV in Canada.
