SCCE is the Nation's Largest Industry-Wide Association of Compliance and Ethics Professionals

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) announced it had reached a critical milestone when it registered its 2,000th member further cementing it as the nation's largest industry-wide association of compliance and ethics professionals. SCCE hit this significant high point when Anna Armendariz, Compliance and Corporate Secretary Specialist, Legal and Governance Services with Integrys Business Support located in Chicago, Illinois joined the association.

Despite the economic downturn, SCCE membership has doubled since 2007 and increased 19% in 2010. The SCCE is a world-wide membership association with members in more than 30 countries.

"It is very exciting to have reached the 2,000th member mark in six short years. Together with its sister organization, the HCCA, our nonprofit membership organization now represents over 8,500 compliance and ethics professionals. With over 3,000 of our members now certified, our profession has a strong voice in the evolution of compliance and ethics programs," said SCCE Chief Executive Officer Roy Snell.

Ms. Armendariz explained that she joined SCCE to gain more knowledge in the field so that she can help improve Integrys Energy Group's corporate compliance and ethics program. "As our program grows I need to keep up with what our peers are doing in their programs, stay updated with changes to the federal sentencing guidelines, and learn from other companies' compliance wins and lessons learned. Based upon my first experience with the SCCE at the regional conference in Chicago earlier this year, I believe that the SCCE provides a great forum for exchanging ideas and solutions on corporate ethics and compliance."

"Anna joins 1,999 SCCE members who also recognize the value in furthering their education, enhancing their skills, and increasing their professional network," said Snell.

Developing the Compliance & Ethics Profession

The SCCE has made substantial gains in developing this relatively new profession. The SCCE, working with the Compliance Certification Board, developed a certification program for compliance and ethics professionals. To date nearly 900 individuals have become Certified Compliance and Ethics Professionals.

The SCCE recognized the growing demands of members for networking and knowledge sharing. To assist its members in this, the SCCE has embraced social media. An SCCE group can be found on LinkedIn and Facebook, and SCCE feeds are available on Twitter. Most importantly, SCCEnet was launched in 2008, providing an online social network, complete with vigorous discussion groups. SCCEnet is open to anyone interested in participating and has attracted over 5,000 members.
