Go Daddy Pet Project - Doubling Donations to Arizona Humane Society
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Go Daddy announced today it is the title sponsor of the Arizona Humane
Society's 12th Annual Pet Telethon and will match online donations,
dollar for dollar up to $100K, during the annual fundraiser. This is the
second consecutive year the telethon will be presented by the
Ariz.-based Web giant.
Go Daddy's telethon support has become a tradition the past five years,
each year strengthening in commitment. By doubling online donations this
year, Go Daddy hopes viewers feel encouraged to help animals in need at www.AZHumane.org.
The Arizona Humane Society relies solely on donations and fees to
operate.
"Go Daddy's generosity, year after year, is critical to our goal of
providing for Arizona's homeless animals," said Guy Collison, executive
director of the Arizona Humane Society. "Having Go Daddy as the title
sponsor means we have a partner that not only leads in donations, but
also gives us volunteers to answer phones and the online support needed
to keep our website running during the telethon."
In addition to the annual donation, Go Daddy provides technical support
to the Arizona Humane Society. It started in 2006, when the AHS website
was unable to handle telethon traffic and crashed. At a moment's notice,
Go Daddy jumped in and provided a new Web address, giving donors a
secure, safe place to give. Ever since then, the Humane Society has had
its website, www.AZHumane.org,
registered and hosted through Go Daddy, the world's largest Web
hosting provider and #1 domain
name registrar.
"Go Daddy understands the importance of giving back and when it comes to
Arizona's animals, we're committed to providing the time and money
needed to help," Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons said. "Go Daddy
wants to make every dollar count for the Humane Society, so if you give
10 dollars online, it turns into 20."
Go Daddy cares about the community and its success allows for a wide
variety of charitable giving. In addition to supporting Arizona's pets,
Go Daddy's philanthropic work involves organizations supporting women,
children, education, the military and many other causes. Every year, Go
Daddy increases its community outreach. So far this year, Go Daddy has
already exceeded the $2.5MM given in 2009.
The Arizona Humane Society shelters nearly 50,000 animals every year.
The money raised during the telethon helps house these pets, as well as
provide low-cost spay and neuter services, educational programs,
including how to better care for pets, fight animal cruelty and adopt a
pet.
