(Tampa, FL) - Brian Blair, a proven conservative and Republican candidate for the Florida House of Representatives in District 47, is running on a track record of common sense spending.
As a Hillsborough County Commissioner Brian Blair led the charge to save Hillsborough County taxpayers over a billion dollars. At the same time, Blair achieved the largest ad valorem tax cut in county history.
He co-sponsored property tax relief for all combat military personnel including property tax relief for local combat military personnel.
During that time, Blair opposed new tax rate and fee increases while leading the charge to ax the storm water tax resulting in taxpayer savings of more than $300 million.
By doing some basic research, Blair saved $100,000 on repairs of sidewalks at the County Center and he negotiated savings of $2 million for taxpayers on improvements at intersections in northwest Hillsborough County.
On behalf of the elderly county residents, Blair created an additional $15,000 homestead tax exemption for seniors making $24,000 or less not including social security.
In order to hold elected officials and county employees accountable, Blair promoted a Florida Tax Watch audit of county budget and policies.
"Unlike many politicians," stated Blair, "I kept my word and never voted for a tax or fee hike."
"I believe that I kept our local government transparent and accountable. That's the job I was elected for and I was honored to serve the residents of Hillsborough County. I look forward to not only again serving our community but also the entire State of Florida."
