Rhode Island to Implement PK-20 Statewide Longitudinal Data System
ADDISON, Texas - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Mizuni, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Rhode Island Department of
Education (RIDE) has selected Mizuni, in partnership with Urban Policy
Development (UPD) Consulting, to design and implement the Statewide
Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) for the State of Rhode Island. Mizuni
and UPD Consulting will combine their expertise to provide RIDE with a
solution to link PK-12, Higher Education, Labor and Training data and
give teachers and districts better information to improve student
achievement.
The PK-20 Statewide Longitudinal Data System will be funded through a
grant received by Rhode Island in 2009 from the U.S. Department of
Education's Institute of Education Sciences SLDS Grant Program. The goal
of the grant is to implement an electronic interoperability framework
that will enable RIDE to increase interoperability between schools and
districts, resulting in effective longitudinal tracking of students from
early childhood education through the workforce.
"RIDE has extraordinary vision on how they will use data to inform
administrators and teachers to improve student outcomes," said Ignacio
Ybarra, President of Mizuni, Inc. "Mizuni is excited to be part of the
team chosen to make this vision a reality."
