The local online paper will cover areas around and in Minnesota's Chisago County. The paper will focus on local businesses, events, politics, and other items of local interest.
East MN Weekly (EMW)'s newly promoted Editor-in-Chief Rose Garland said, "I am excited about this new online paper. We will direct our energies towards covering area businesses, restaurants, events and festivals, taxes, politics, sports - including fishing, recipes, and other items the local community will find important, interesting and newsworthy."
Alan Gray, president and founder of NewsBlaze and other local-focus newspapers, got the idea for the paper while working with Garland who has been editing, promoting and writing stories for NewsBlaze. Gray said, "I am delighted to see the enthusiasm of writers who want to go further in the field of journalism." The first issue of the East Minn. Weekly News was, fittingly, issued on Independence Day.
