Two Colorado Homeowners Will Win $10,000 in Home Energy Makeovers
DENVER - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Two Colorado homeowners will win up to $10,000 or more in home energy
efficiency improvements as part of the Xcel Energy Home Energy Makeover
Contest. The contest entry period begins July 1, and ends September 15,
2010.
Two homeowners will receive energy efficiency improvements worth up to
$10,000 or more could include: a new central heating and cooling system;
sealing air leaks and ductwork; adding new insulation and other upgrades.
The Electric & Gas Industries Association (EGIA) is producing the
Contest on behalf of Xcel Energy as part of a campaign to promote its
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR and other home energy efficiency
initiatives. More than a competition, the campaign is designed to raise
awareness, create demand and increase the market for "whole house"
energy-saving products and services. Working together, Xcel Energy, EGIA
and the contest sponsors will select homes that best demonstrate
potential for energy savings, using comprehensive home performance
analyses performed to national Building Performance Institute standards.
Contest sponsors include (in alphabetical order): Accent Windows,
Bestway Insulation, Champion Windows, Frostbusters and Coolth Company,
Johns-Manville, Lennox Industries, Rheem Marathon Water Heaters, Lightly
Treading, Pro Energy Consultants, and Well Home.
