Judge Sean Connelly to Return to Reilly Pozner and Will Open Firm's New D.C. Office

DENVER - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Attorneys Dan Reilly and Larry Pozner of the Denver-based national litigation firm Reilly Pozner LLP announced today that their former partner, Sean Connelly, will be returning to the firm in January 2011 after having served more than two years on the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Judge Connelly, who hails from the East Coast and was formerly a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He will split his professional time between the firm's headquarters in Denver and the firm's new office in the nation's capital. Connelly's practice will focus upon federal civil and criminal appeals, complex civil litigation; and while collar criminal matters.

Connelly originally came to Colorado from D.C. at the request of then U.S. Attorney General, Janet Reno, as a key member of the Oklahoma City bombing prosecution trial team. As a critical member of the trial team, he argued key legal motions and led the appellate team in those successful prosecutions.

"We couldn't be happier that Sean is returning to the firm," Reilly said. "He's a great friend and a terrific human being and his legal skills are extraordinary. We now have cases in over 30 states, including many on both coasts so it was natural for Sean, Sue and their family to return to D.C. with Sean opening our office there and regularly being in Denver. It's especially good news for our clients."

Connelly has argued appeals in all but one of the regional federal circuit courts of appeals, more than 100 arguments in total. His appellate arguments are renowned for being exquisitely prepared and for Connelly's lack of notes at the lectern.

"Sean's a remarkable lawyer," Pozner said. "He writes and argues the law at levels beyond we mere mortals. Sean has been a superstar everywhere he's gone - with Justice in D.C. and Denver, as head of the Colorado U.S. Attorneys appellate division, with our firm, and then on the Court of Appeals. His return adds an exciting dimension that makes us stronger and more versatile as a firm in both civil and criminal cases."

Connelly said, "I will be rejoining an outstanding law firm with a thriving practice in Colorado and nationwide. This was a unique opportunity to return to my legal roots in Washington, D.C. while maintaining a close connection to Colorado. It has been an honor to serve on the Colorado Court of Appeals."
