The Department of Arkansas Heritage is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, ArkansasHeritage.com, designed to celebrate the history of Arkansas and to provide a more user-friendly online experience. The new site design highlights the collaboration between the department's seven divisions and provides easy access to department services.

"The Department of Heritage, with its four museums and three resource agencies, works to preserve and protect our state's natural and cultural heritage," said Melissa Whitfield, Communications Director. "We wanted to offer a newly designed website that would guide people to our many resources and services. Whether you are looking for information about restoring a historic property, searching for an Arkansas artist, looking for educational workshops or investigating grant opportunities, you can go to this site to find what you need. Your heritage is here."

The Department of Arkansas Heritage has a long history of promoting and coordinating the discovery, presentation and preservation of Arkansas's natural and cultural resources. The updated website provides a clean, organized and fun online environment for visitors. The new look incorporates a collaborative calendar of Arkansas events and a press room along with social networking and interactive elements to provide current information on Arkansas state heritage. New features include:

Collaborative Calendar of Events

Visitors can discover Arkansas History events with the new events calendar. This calendar is a joint effort between the Department of Heritage and its agencies as it includes events around the state from each heritage division. The calendar serves as a "one-stop shop" to see what's going on with all the agencies around the state.

Plan for Heritage Month Section

The new design includes an updated special section focused on the annual Arkansas Heritage Month celebration. Organizations can submit events for the 2011 celebration. Visitors can order free Collectible Heritage Month posters online as well.

Visit www.arkansasheritage.com to experience the new website and peruse the latest Arkansas history information.
