One Day - 100 Holes - $100,000 - 50 New Veteran Jobs

This year, Meyer will be joined throughout the day by one of the veterans that Hire Heroes USA is working to place into a new job, as he transitions from his military career to a job in the civilian workforce. Staff Sergeant John Matter a Marine Sniper and recipient of three Purple Hearts, will ride along with Meyer as he golfs. 100 Holes for Our Heroes has always had two major functions, raising awareness for the four-year-old charity's mission and raising money that will directly help place veterans like Staff Sergeant Matter into their first civilian job.

Staff Sergeant Matter, in the course of his six tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, was the second in charge and essentially ran the operational side of his unit on a daily basis. He led his men into battle and put his life on the line, being shot 9 times on three different occasions to protect injured men of his. On a daily basis Staff Sergeant Matter also ensured that his Marines had all of the necessary food, ammunition and other provisions to perform their mission. He is a leader and professional who is relocating to the Milwaukee area, where he grew up, to join his wife, a teacher in Special Education and their two young sons. Staff Sergeant Matter is looking to take the unique skills that he developed in the Marines and apply them to a leadership role as part of a team of people in a growing Milwaukee area firm.

Staff Sergeant Matter is an example of the high caliber individuals that have served their country with honor and which Hire Heroes USA strives to help find the right opportunity for civilian employment once they have completed their military career. It costs Hire Heroes USA roughly $2,000 per veteran to place these high quality individuals into these initial civilian jobs. There is no charge to the veteran or the employer for these services. This year's fundraising goal has been set at $100,000, which allows Hire Heroes USA to place an additional veteran per week for the next year.
