ConAgra Foods and "Today's" Al Roker Lend a Hand with a Surprise Donation to Iowa Homeless Youth Centers
OMAHA, Neb. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Today, Omaha-based ConAgra Foods surprised the Iowa Homeless Youth
Centers (IHYC) with an in-kind food donation of more than 42,000 pounds
along with a check for $25,000 as part of Al Roker's Lend a Hand Today
trip. In its ninth consecutive year, Lend a Hand Today continues
its mission to help small charities across the country by providing
scores of essential items they need to continue helping and serving
their communities.
"Today" has raised more than $4 million in donations to date for this
year's trip which kicked off Monday, June 21, in San Francisco, Calif.
The trip continues through Friday with a total of five stops in five
cities, including today's visit to the Buchanan Transitional Living
Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
The long-standing commitment by ConAgra Foods and the ConAgra Foods
Foundation to end child hunger has resulted in donations of more than
$48 million and more than 232 million pounds of food since 1993.
