Unique artwork to be auctioned to benefit families living with HIV/AIDS

CHICAGO, June 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The annual Birdhouse Auction and cocktail party to benefit Chicago House will be held at Room & Board's downtown Chicago store on Thursday, June 24th. Local Chicago artists, designers and architects will participate in this unique event, an annual tradition for art enthusiasts and Chicago House supporters.

One-of-a-kind birdhouses and birdhouse inspired artwork will be auctioned off to benefit Chicago House, a local supporter of families and individuals affected by HIV and AIDS. Beginning on June 18th, bidders can get a sneak peek at the display at Room & Board for an entire week prior to the event, 55 East Ohio Street in downtown Chicago.

"We are thrilled to be hosting this year's birdhouse event at Room & Board for the first time. Not only are we grateful for their generous support and partnership in support of the event, but this venue will allow both organizations to publicly showcase the culmination of our two year partnership," said Jeremy Hilborn, Manager of Special Events for Chicago House. "As another first this year for the birdhouse event, we've decided to expand our auction items beyond birdhouses to include artwork, shelter and supplies themed around other animals near and dear to the human spirit, dogs and cats."

Since 1985, Chicago House has provided housing and supportive services to men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS. Their services have since grown to include case management, prevention and awareness training, and the Midwest's first employment training and placement program specific to individuals affected by HIV.

The BIRDHOUSE: Unleashed! art auction and cocktail party will be held from 6 to 9 P.M. on June 24, 2010. Tickets are $65 in advance and $75 at the door, and include hors d'oeuvres from J&L Catering, cocktails by Grey Goose vodka, and sweet treats from Sweet Miss Giving's Bakery. For information and tickets, phone the Chicago House Ticket line at 773-248-5200, ext. 303 or book online at www.chicagohouse.org.
