The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and LA PALESTRA Partner to Train for ING New York City Marathon

SHORT HILLS, N.J., June 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and LA PALESTRA Center for Preventative Medicine, an elite New York City based exercise facility, are coming together to provide an exclusive training program to Team Reeve marathon participants for the 2010 ING New York City Marathon.

On May 26, over 60 Team Reeve athletes began training for the 26.2 mile marathon which will take place on November 7, 2010. LA PALESTRA has designed a 24-week full marathon training program specifically for Team Reeve. The program will include training and nutrition seminars at the LA PALESTRA facility in New York, group training runs in Central Park and virtual training for any out-of-state participants.

LA PALESTRA currently occupies the former ballroom of a New York landmark, Hotel Des Artistes. The two level facility includes a cardiovascular diagnostic and treatment area, physical therapy rooms, steam rooms, a medical library and more.

For marathon day, Team Reeve competitors will be supported throughout the race by LA PALESTRA medical and fitness practitioners and specialists. LA PALESTRA will have 'water stops' stationed along the course for the Team Reeve athletes. Team Reeve will also be providing charter bus transportation from Central Park to the start in Staten Island for their athletes on race day.

This unique partnership between the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and LA PALESTRA originated in 2009 when Reeve Foundation Board Members John McConnell and Matthew Reeve trained at LA PALESTRA in preparation for the 2009 ING New York City Marathon.
