Real-time Nature of Twitter Will Make Individual World Cup Games More Exciting

The real-time nature of Twitter and other similar forms of social media may serve to make each individual match at this year's FIFA World Cup more exciting according to Sony Ericsson.
With the excitement leading up to this summer's World Cup growing each day as the opening matches draw nearer, football fans all over the globe have been posting updates to their social networks detailing their views on teams and individual players as the deadline for each nation's final squad list looms.
Sony Ericsson has indicated that the engagement and fervour generated by the lead up to the tournament is a clear sign that real-time social media, particularly Twitter, will serve to increase the amount of attention and conversations around each game, leading up to the eventual climax of the tournament's final on the 11th July.
A spokesperson from Sony Ericsson commented: 'The updates on this year's tournament activity will come thick and fast due to the ability of Twitter to relay interactions in real-time. All the action can be discussed as and when it happens, and more users will be tuning into social media to ensure that they are kept abreast of all the latest news, events, and also chatter around and issues that arise.
'The fact that users will be able to share their views and opinions as and when things happen within individual games will almost certainly make the tournament a far more engaging experience as a whole.'
Sony Ericsson recently launched the South African Wave through both its own website and also the Sony Ericsson Facebook page, giving fans an opportunity to get their hands on a number of the official match balls to be used at this year's FIFA World Cup. This follows on from the launch of the Sony Ericsson Twitter World Cup, where football fans can pledge their allegiance to their home nation ahead of this summer's tournament.
