Redondo Beach will observe Memorial Day at the historic band shell in beautiful Veterans Park at the beach at 11:30 AM on Monday, the 31st of May. The solemn observance will include reflection and remembrance,music,speeches and honors to all those members of the armed forces who paid the ultimate sacrifice in our nations wars. Memorial Day is a time to honor the fallen.

Speakers include Congresswoman Jane Harman, CA-36, Redondo Beach Mayor, Mike Gin and LA County Supervisor Don Knabe. Representing the US Air Force from Los Angeles Air Force Base will be Redondo Beach resident, Major Rick Luce. The Salvation Army will furnish the music and the Redondo Beach High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC will provide the Color Guard.

Afterwards there will be a ceremonial groundbreaking of the new Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial by the City and the Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial Task Force. The new Memorial is estimated to be completed by Veterans Day 2010. See www.RBVeteransMemorial.com for more information......

The groundbreaking will be followed by a BBQ sponsored by the Redondo Elks in the Elks parking lot south of the Lodge next to the Park from noon to 3 PM. The BBQ is free for all veterans and members of the military. A $5 donation from all others.
